School Trip to Graves Island - May 18

We are having a school-wide picnic on Graves Island in Chester on Friday, May 18th. This is to celebrate “Take Me Outside Day” on May 17th and it is also going to be the year-end class trip for all our classes. The students will get on the busses here around 9:15 and will be on the island until 1:00 when they will be bussed back to the school to get ready for dismissal at 1:50. All parents are welcome to join the picnic by meeting the students there on the island by 9:45. If you want to volunteer to help with this event, please contact your child’s teacher. To make their day the best it can be, students will need to bring the following:

-rubber boots -lunch for the picnic-extra snacks -water

-change of clothesAND be dressed for the weather of that day as all the activities will be OUTSIDE. If you want to send sunscreen or bug repellent, please make sure that it is unscented or a natural based product.

If you consent for your child to be part of this school trip, please make sure you have COMPLETED, SIGNED and RETURNED the Activity Release Form that has already been sent home. If they are not going to take part in the trip, then they must stay home for the day as there will be no teachers or other staff members here at the school. Thank you.

PATHS Program

PATHS® Program Objectives and Goals

The PATHS® program is an elementary school curriculum that has been shown to significantly improve children's social and emotional skills. Social and emotional competence is a master skill that underlies both effective behavior and academic success.

The PATHS program covers these five domains of social and emotional development:

• self-control
• emotional understanding
• positive self-esteem
• relationships
• interpersonal problem-solving skills.

The PATHS program brings students through each of these domains in stages. While some of the units from the PATHS program target one or more of the domains, aspects of all five are integrated into each unit.

Here is a great website with more information about the program!
